Organized by Edward D.Lau SCALED DOWN exhibits six artists in a given space that does not necessarily allows the display of large or monumental artworks. All of the artists draw upon nature¡¯s sources whether the subject is botanical or exploring spatial landscapes with abstract forms of ropes, saddles, animals found on expansive plains in the Northwest. Two of the artists use botanical forms to convey their interests diverse from each other. One explores plant forms in all of their structures-blossoms, leaves, branches, and roots. The shapes are recognizable and at times melt into surrealistic configurations suggestive of deformities that exist in our environment. Another artist makes use of fragile floral material creating tapestried painting to deal with life and death issues. One artist stacked found small stones and proceeded to draw scaled down cairns used as landmarks or memorials. Following in that vein a painter/constructionist uses natural materials cloth, metal, bones, and branches to build his statements of memories.
